ในประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวของผม การเริ่มต้นจากการเข้าใจเรื่องเงินจริงๆ ทำให้ชีวิตผมเปลี่ยนไปอย่างมาก ก่อนหน้านี้ ผมก็เหมือนกับหลายๆ คน ทำงานหนักแต่ไม่รู้จะเก็บเงินยังไง ใช้ไปเรื่อยๆ เหมือนเงินเดือนหายวับไปในพริบตา จนได้เริ่มจดรายรับรายจ่ายอย่างละเอียด พบว่ามีค่าใช้จ่ายในเรื่องที่ไม่จำเป็นมากมาย เช่น ซื้อของเพียงเพื่อให้คนอื่นเห็น หรือการใช้จ่ายเกินตัวโดยไม่รู้ตัว ผมได้เห็นว่าการมีวินัยกับการจัดการเงินที่ดีสำคัญกว่าการมีรายได้สูง เพราะถ้าไม่มีวินัย รายได้เพิ่มก็จ่ายเพิ่มจนหมดเหมือนเดิม การเรียนรู้ที่จะควบคุมและวางแผนการเงินทำให้ผมเริ่มเก็บออมได้มากขึ้น ค่อยๆ ศึกษาการลงทุนเพื่อนำเงินไปทำงานแทน เอื้อต่อการสร้างรายได้เสริมและความมั่นคงทางการเงินในระยะยาว การไม่ใช้เงินเพื่อความภาคภูมิใจหรือการแข่งขันกับผู้อื่นเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญ เพราะการใช้เงินแบบนั้นทำให้ชีวิตติดกับดักของหนี้สินและความเครียด เมื่อเริ่มมองเงินเป็นเครื่องมือแห่ง "อิสรภาพ" ก็จะสามารถเลือกชีวิตที่ต้องการได้ เช่น เลือกเวลาทำงาน เลือกโอกาสในการลงทุนหรือพักผ่อนตามความต้องการมากขึ้น ผมอยากแนะนำว่าอย่ามองข้ามเงินจำนวนเล็กน้อยเพราะเงินล้านแรกก็เริ่มจากจุดเล็กๆ การสร้างนิสัยดีๆ อย่างการประหยัดอย่างมีแบบแผน การสร้างรายได้เพิ่มเติม และการอดทนกับแผนการเงินในระยะยาวเป็นสิ่งที่จะช่วยให้ประสบความสำเร็จทางการเงินได้จริงๆ สุดท้ายนี้ ทุกคนที่ต้องการเปลี่ยนชีวิตทางการเงินต้องเริ่มที่ตัวเอง ไม่มีใครช่วยได้มากกว่าการที่เราเริ่มลงมือจัดการกับเงินของเราเองตั้งแต่วันนี้
