✨ARC REVIEW✨

From the first page, The Witch Queen hooked me in. Strong female characters. Every character felt real to me. I got attached to all of them lol. The dedication alone (swipe to see it) made me tear up because of how relatable it was and how seen I felt in that moment. @alexandriaardenauthor , thank you for writing this story 💜💜

... Read moreAs a dedicated reader, one of the things I cherish most in a story is seeing a female lead truly come into her own, experiencing a meaningful character arc that feels earned and impactful. When I picked up 'The Witch Queen' ARC, I was particularly excited to see if it delivered on this, especially given the buzz around its *morally grey FMC*. And let me tell you, it absolutely did not disappoint. From the outset, the author establishes a protagonist who is complex, flawed, and undeniably human. This isn't your typical squeaky-clean heroine; she's a curvy, morally grey FMC navigating a world that demands tough choices. What fascinated me was how her past experiences, echoing the dedication's message about women shouldering too much at an early age, shaped her decisions and her worldview. It made her motivations understandable, even when her methods were questionable. This foundation is crucial for any compelling character arc; you need to understand where they're coming from to appreciate where they're going. The development of her character really shone through her relationships, particularly the enemies-to-lovers dynamic. Interactions with the light-wielding MMC weren't just about romance; they were catalysts for her growth. Watching her confront her own biases, challenge her ingrained beliefs, and slowly allow herself to trust (or at least, to be vulnerable) was incredibly satisfying. Her journey isn't a straight line; there are stumbles and setbacks, which only made her feel more *relatable*. She faces internal and external conflicts that force her to evolve, to tap into a strength she didn't know she possessed, and to redefine what 'power' means to her. I felt deeply invested in her evolution. The author masterfully allows her to grow without losing the core of who she is. She doesn't suddenly become a different person, but rather a more refined, self-aware version of herself, integrating her 'grey' aspects into a formidable whole. This isn't just about giving the female lead 'more arc'; it's about giving her an arc that is authentic, challenging, and ultimately empowering. It felt like a true journey of self-discovery and acceptance, making her one of the most memorable female characters I've read this year. If you're looking for a book where the female lead's character arc is not just present but profoundly explored and beautifully executed, you absolutely have to pick up 'The Witch Queen'.
