I Wish Reading Felt Like My Happy Place Again...

I am not sure about anyone else but I feel like the last few months reading hasn't felt like it used to.. Maybe it was the 30+ books of Rina Kent that I powered through in the beginning of the year or maybe it was being told to go touch grass. I just haven't felt that joy when reading. Whether it was a new book or a book I have already read before. #booktok #bookstagram #booksoflemon8 #notsohappyplace #embracevulnerability

... Read moreIt's not uncommon to go through phases where something that once felt like a happy place starts to lose that spark. For many avid readers, the joy of reading can ebb and flow due to burnout, external distractions, or even the pressure of reading certain genres or authors non-stop — like powering through 30+ books by the same writer. Taking time to recognize this shift is a healthy first step. Embracing vulnerability, as you've tagged, is essential when reconnecting with reading. It means being honest with yourself about how you feel without judgment. Maybe it's okay not to finish every book or to take a break and explore new genres or formats, like audiobooks or graphic novels. This flexibility can reignite excitement. The phrase “touch grass” you've mentioned can metaphorically suggest taking a break from screens and immersing yourself in nature or offline activities. These moments often refresh the mind and can inspire a renewed appreciation for reading. Additionally, communities such as #booktok, #bookstagram, and #booksoflemon8 offer vibrant spaces for sharing honest reading experiences, recommendations, and support. Engaging with these communities may help you find new perspectives and authors, making reading feel more like a shared joy again. Finally, don't hesitate to revisit books that brought you happiness before. Sometimes rereading a favorite novel brings comfort and reminds us why we fell in love with reading in the first place. Remember, your happy place is personal and evolving. Taking small mindful steps can help transform reading from a task back into a true source of joy.
