SHADOW WORK
SHADOW WORK — CLARITY SERIES
INCONSISTENT REALITY FRAMING
Inconsistent Reality Framing is when what was said, agreed to, or understood keeps changing — and you’re left trying to keep up.
It’s not one contradiction.
It’s a pattern of shifting positions.
How It Shows Up
In Romance
They say:
“I’m not ready for anything serious.”
But when you make plans without them, they say:
“So you’re just moving on?”
They say:
“We’re fine.”
Then two days later:
“You’ve been acting weird.”
They tell you they don’t care what you do.
Then get upset when you do it.
The definition of the relationship moves depending on what benefits them.
And you’re left trying to decode the rules.
In Family
A boundary is agreed to:
“Okay, I won’t bring that up again.”
Later it’s:
“That’s not what I said.”
You confront something hurtful and hear:
“That never happened like that.”
You’re told:
“We don’t hold grudges in this family.”
But your past mistakes are brought up repeatedly.
History changes depending on who needs to look right.
At Work
You’re told:
“You’re doing great.”
Then in a review:
“There have been concerns.”
You’re not told expectations changed —
but you’re evaluated as if you knew.
You complete a task the way it was explained.
Now it’s:
“That’s not what I meant.”
The standard shifts after the fact.
What It Does to You
You start double-checking everything.
You save texts.
You replay conversations.
You ask, “Can you clarify?” constantly.
You become hyper-vigilant — not dramatic.
Because when reality keeps shifting, your nervous system tries to stabilize it.
The Shadow Work
Ask yourself:
• Do agreements stay consistent?
• Do definitions change when accountability gets close?
• Am I constantly trying to figure out the “real” version of events?
Clarity does not require constant reinterpretation.
Consistency is calm.
If the story keeps changing,
stop trying to track every version.
Watch the pattern instead.
Taking Your Power Back
You stop arguing about the past.
You stop debating what was “meant.”
You say:
“I need consistency. If the position keeps changing, I can’t participate.”
And then you watch what happens.
Power returns the moment you stop stabilizing someone else’s instability.
Patterns don’t lie. 💜🙏🏻
