Is this stress or something else?

“What is a part of you that’s finally starting to feel safe again?”

one of those places for me is my shoulders since I’ve been regulating my shoulders now has widened they actually relax now something I haven’t had before #HealingTime #nervoussystemregulation #mystory

... Read moreWhen we experience stress, many of us tend to hold tension in our shoulders without even realizing it. From personal experience, I’ve learned that paying attention to this specific area can reveal a lot about our emotional and physical state. Shoulder tension often acts like a built-in protective barrier, signaling that parts of our nervous system remain on alert. I started practicing gentle nervous system regulation techniques to help my shoulders relax — such as mindful breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and some light stretching. Over time, I noticed my shoulders widening, which to me symbolized a newfound openness and safety I hadn’t felt before. This physical change was accompanied by an emotional shift; I felt less guarded and more at ease in my body. If you’re wondering "Is this stress or something else?", tuning into how your body feels, especially around the shoulders, might provide some answers. Chronic shoulder tightness can sometimes be misinterpreted simply as muscle strain, but it often reflects deeper nervous system dysregulation linked to emotional stress or past trauma. What helped me the most was approaching this process with kindness and patience. Instead of forcing relaxation, I learned to observe and accept my body's signals and gently guide myself towards comfort. Incorporating regular healing practices, such as mindful awareness and nervous system regulation exercises, can foster a gradual yet profound sense of safety within your body. Remember, healing is a journey unique to each person. By asking yourself, "What is a part of you that’s finally starting to feel safe again?" you can open a doorway to self-awareness, helping you track your progress and celebrate moments of relief and growth along the way.
