simple things you can do to de-stress 🤍

so I have been sick for a while, well almost a week to be exact, and worst of all it was during the exam week on top of dress rehearsals and concert. it was so bad to the point I had to ask to be excused from afternoon and evening classes as attendance counts…

anyway, I came up with a few list of things you can do to give yourself a peace of mind; whether you are almost recovered or looking to find some things to do now that you’re done with your exams!

1️⃣ journal – I find that journaling helps with organizing my thoughts and also give me a space to reflect on things that happened. you can also write about your day, copy quotes, even recipes that you found online. still no idea what to write? you can search up some journal prompts on lemon8 to get you thinking.

2️⃣ draw/paint – it doesn’t have to be painting but whatever gets you inspired and creative. for me, I find that making art heals my broken soul. I’ve always associated painting with relaxation and it’s great for getting my mind to focus on things other than school/work (which is the last thing you want to think about). of course, you can also knit or crochet, or whatever, just find something to make~

3️⃣ tidy up your space – doesn’t cleaning your work space (or closet) every once in a while feel great?

4️⃣ (active) listening to music – whip out some cool jazz music or whatever you like and just listen to the music. don’t think about anything and absolutely DON’T do anything ;)

5️⃣ read a book – engage yourself in a fiction book or a short novel if reading isn’t your favorite thing to do. Ever since I read “Convenience Store Woman” for a class, I got interested in Japanese literature. I’m currently reading the Chinese translation of Nanae Aoyama’s “Hitori biyori”

that’s it for my short list of things you can do. hope this gives you an idea!

... Read moreIn today's fast-paced world, stress can often feel overwhelming, especially during demanding periods like exams or work deadlines. Finding ways to unwind is essential for maintaining both mental and physical health. Here are a few additional techniques that complement the original ones listed: 6️⃣ Mindfulness Meditation – Taking just a few minutes to focus on your breath can significantly reduce stress levels. Mindfulness exercises encourage you to stay present and alleviate anxiety about past or future events. 7️⃣ Nature Walks – Spending time outdoors has proven benefits for stress relief. Nature not only provides a serene environment but also offers a chance to disconnect from technology and recharge your mental batteries. 8️⃣ Breathing Exercises – Simple techniques like deep-breathing or the 4-7-8 method can help to instantly calm the nervous system. They shift your focus away from stressors and allow relaxation. 9️⃣ Physical Activity – Whether it's a quick workout, yoga, or even a dance session, moving your body releases endorphins, which are natural stress relievers. 🔟 Connect with Loved Ones – Sometimes, simply talking to someone you trust can alleviate stress. Sharing thoughts and feelings can provide comfort and often gives you a new perspective on your worries. Incorporating these practices into your routine can enhance mental clarity, boost mood, and decrease overall stress levels. The key is to find what works best for you and dedicate time to your self-care.
