Packing a drawing/coloring box for my nephew ASMR
I decided to pack a little something for my 5 year old nephew to draw and color with!
This viral snack container was perfect to hold everything too!
And the ASMR of putting everything inside was great!
Building on my little project for my nephew, I wanted to share a bit more about why I think a well-organized art box is a game-changer for kids, and some other great ideas I've come across! When I started thinking about what to put in his drawing and coloring box, I realized it wasn't just about throwing in some crayons. It's about sparking creativity and making it easy for him to dive into art whenever he feels inspired. For a 5-year-old, accessibility is key. If it's too messy or hard to get to, they'll lose interest fast, right? That viral snack container was truly a lifesaver for this project! Honestly, I stumbled upon it online and thought, 'This is genius for small bits and bobs!' It has those perfect little compartments that keep everything separate. No more digging for a specific crayon or marker. For those of you wondering where to find similar organizational hacks, look for bento-style lunch boxes or even tackle boxes designed for crafts. They offer similar segmented storage that works wonderfully for art supplies. It keeps everything neat, and my nephew can easily see all his choices, which makes him even more excited to draw. Beyond the container, choosing the right supplies is crucial. For a 5-year-old, you want things that are durable, non-toxic, and easy to hold. I made sure to include some chunky crayons that won't break easily, washable markers (a must for parents!), and a few good quality pencils. And yes, a plastic eraser is an absolute essential! Kids love experimenting, and a good eraser lets them fix 'mistakes' without frustration, encouraging them to keep trying. Small notebooks or a pad of paper, some fun stickers, and maybe even a few stencils can really elevate their creative play. Think about themes they love – while I didn't go for a specific 'Sesame Street pencil box letter A' theme, I did consider what characters or colors he's into, making sure the overall kit felt appealing to *him*. The ASMR aspect of packing this box was an unexpected bonus, but it really highlights how satisfying organizing can be. The gentle clicks of closing compartments, the soft rustle of paper, the quiet thud of crayons settling into place – it just adds to the calming, focused feeling of preparing for a creative session. It even made me feel more relaxed as I put it all together! If you're looking for other ways to keep kids' art supplies tidy, I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve. Clear plastic bins are fantastic for larger items like construction paper or paint bottles, as kids can see what's inside. Wall-mounted organizers with pockets can save desk space, and small caddies with handles are perfect for transporting supplies from room to room. The goal is always to make art accessible, enjoyable, and mess-free (or at least, less messy!). A well-curated art kit like this isn't just about the supplies; it's about giving a child the tools and encouragement to explore their imagination. It’s been so rewarding seeing my nephew's face light up with his new, perfectly packed art box!
