You’re not lazy.

You’re not inconsistent.

And you’re not broken.

You’re just following advice that doesn’t work for the body you have right now.

Because most women are told:

eat less

work out more

be more disciplined

So that’s exactly what you do.

You clean up your food

you try to stay consistent

you push yourself harder

…and somehow you still feel:

exhausted

puffy

frustrated

and stuck in the same body

So your brain starts telling you:

maybe I need more willpower

maybe I need to be stricter

maybe I just need to try harder

But what if it’s not a discipline problem at all?

For me, it was cortisol.

Once I started supporting my stress hormones instead of pushing harder, everything shifted:

my energy stabilized

I started sleeping through the night

the puffiness in my face went down

and my body finally started responding again

I’m down 27 pounds

and went from a size 12/14 to a size 6 in jeans

Not because I worked harder.

Because I stopped working against my body.

If you’re doing everything right and still feel stuck, there’s usually a reason for that.

Follow @thecortisolcode and comment CORTISOL if you want what helped me.

... Read moreMany of us have been led to believe that weight loss is simply a matter of eating less and working out more, but that advice often overlooks a crucial factor: the role of hormones, particularly cortisol. Cortisol, known as the stress hormone, can significantly affect how our body holds onto fat, especially in women over 30. From my own experience, I realized that pushing myself harder wasn’t the answer. Instead, by focusing on ways to support healthy cortisol levels—such as prioritizing restful sleep, managing stress through mindfulness or gentle movement, and balancing nutrition—I started to see real changes. My energy stabilized, my sleep improved, and the puffiness I had accepted as normal slowly disappeared. This approach feels more sustainable and compassionate because it acknowledges the unique biology of each individual rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all discipline model. If you find yourself stuck despite consistent efforts, it’s worth exploring your hormonal health rather than solely increasing exercise or restricting food further. Remember, the body is not broken or lazy—it’s responding to the signals we give it. By listening and gently supporting its needs, especially around stress management and cortisol balance, lasting transformation is possible without harsh willpower battles. For anyone facing similar struggles, taking a step back to assess hormonal factors may be the key that finally unlocks progress.
