this was my life for so long and I want to talk about it.

not because it’s fun to talk about.

but because I know I’m not the only one lying awake at 3am wondering what is wrong with her.

I tried everything.

nothing worked.

and every single lab came back normal.

so I just accepted it.

I figured this was just who I was now.

a person who didn’t sleep.

a person who started every single day already running on empty.

what nobody ever told me was that waking up between 2 and 4am isn’t random.

it isn’t insomnia.

it is one of the most classic signs of dysregulated cortisol.

your cortisol is supposed to hit its lowest point at night so your body can rest and repair.

but when it’s out of control it spikes in the middle of the night.

and it pulls you right out of sleep.

every single time.

this wasn’t a sleep problem.

this was a cortisol problem.

and the second I started addressing the real issue I slept through the night for the first time in years.

if you are waking up in the middle of the night and nobody has been able to tell you why, follow me for more and comment CORTISOL below. 🤍

... Read moreFor years, I experienced the frustrating cycle of waking up at 2, 3, or 4 a.m., wide awake with my mind racing but feeling utterly exhausted. Like many, I assumed it was just insomnia or a stress issue, but every doctor visit and lab test said otherwise. It wasn’t until I learned more about cortisol—the body’s primary stress hormone—that I realized my sleep problems stemmed from a cortisol imbalance. Cortisol naturally follows a daily rhythm, falling to its lowest at night to allow the body to rest and repair. But when this rhythm is disrupted, cortisol can spike in the middle of the night, jolting you awake no matter how tired you feel. This phenomenon is more common than many realize and often goes undiagnosed because standard tests may appear normal. What I found helpful was approaching sleep difficulties not just as a symptom but as a sign of underlying hormonal dysregulation. Addressing lifestyle factors such as nutrition, stress management, and circadian health was critical. For example, minimizing caffeine intake in the afternoon, establishing a consistent bedtime routine, and incorporating mindfulness or gentle yoga before sleep helped regulate my cortisol levels. I also focused on improving gut health, as emerging research connects gut imbalances with hormone regulation. Including probiotic-rich foods and reducing processed sugars in my diet made a noticeable difference. Over time, my nighttime cortisol spikes diminished, and I was able to sleep through the night consistently for the first time in years. If you find yourself repeatedly awake between 2 and 4 a.m., don’t dismiss it as insomnia or anxiety alone. It’s worth exploring the possibility of cortisol imbalance. Consulting with a healthcare practitioner who understands hormone rhythms and can help guide testing and treatment options may be key to reclaiming your restful nights and energy during the day. Understanding and addressing the root causes of middle-of-the-night awakenings transformed my life. I’m sharing this in hopes that others battling unexplained sleeplessness will find the information and hope they need to start their own recovery journey.

Let’s talk about Deity Work
I’ve been doing deity work for a while and people seem to over complicate deity work. As a Hellenic polytheist, we all get caught up in our life, but we don’t have to over complicate deity work. Deities want us to do the best we can and to take care of ourselves. All we can do is learn from them an
