1.your morning coffee. caffeine triggers a cortisol spike on its own. if you are drinking it before you eat anything you are sending your cortisol through the roof before your day even starts.
2.skipping meals. every time your blood sugar drops your body releases cortisol to compensate. skipping meals is one of the fastest ways to keep your cortisol chronically elevated all day.
3.scrolling your phone first thing in the morning. your nervous system is at its most vulnerable in the first 30 minutes of waking. the news, the comparison, the notifications all register as threats before you have even gotten out of bed.
4.under eating. eating too little tells your body it is in famine. famine triggers survival mode. survival mode means cortisol. constantly.
