Let’s Do Laundry✨🌸 Stay at Home Mom and Girlfriend

2025/2/4 Edited to

... Read moreOh, the never-ending mountain of laundry! As a stay-at-home mom, I totally get it. Sometimes, just looking at the hamper can feel overwhelming. But over time, I’ve found a few tricks that make ‘doing laundry’ less of a chore and more of a manageable part of my week. I wanted to share some of my personal strategies, especially since we're all in this together! First off, I've learned that consistency is key. Instead of letting it pile up for days, I try to do a load every day or every other day. It’s less daunting to tackle one or two baskets than a week's worth of clothes. This is my personal ‘magic sort level’ for keeping things from getting out of hand! I often start with bedding or towels – things that don't need super careful sorting. When it comes to sorting, I used to just throw everything in. Big mistake! Now, I have designated hampers for darks, lights, and delicates. It might seem like an extra step, but it saves so much time and prevents mishaps later. For delicate items, I always use a mesh bag – it’s a game-changer! And those items that need special attention, like my workout gear? I give them their own small wash so they can get the right 'cycle status.' Choosing the right wash cycle is also crucial. For everyday clothes, a normal cycle works fine. But for heavily soiled items, a pre-soak or a heavy-duty cycle can make a huge difference. I always check the care labels now – it sounds obvious, but I used to skip it! Using the right water temperature also helps maintain the quality of our clothes. And then there's drying! This is where those terms like 'more dry,' 'cool down,' and 'less dry' really come into play. For jeans and towels, I definitely go for 'more dry.' But for delicate blouses or anything I don't want to shrink, I opt for 'less dry' and then hang them up to finish air-drying. The 'cool down' cycle is fantastic for reducing wrinkles, especially if I can pull items out immediately. I've also found that a quick shake before putting clothes in the dryer helps them dry more evenly and quickly. Sometimes, for things like sweaters, I prefer to air dry them completely on a rack to maintain their shape – it adds a bit of time, but it's worth it! One thing that really helps me as an 'at home mom & GF' is involving my partner. Even if it's just helping to fold a pile of clean clothes or putting away their own items, it makes a big difference. It's about teamwork, right? We're both contributing to the household, and laundry is a shared responsibility, even if I'm the primary 'laundry manager.' Ultimately, while I might never love doing laundry, I've learned to make peace with it. It’s part of creating a comfortable home for my family. So, next time you’re staring at that overflowing basket, remember you're not alone! Put on some music, tackle one load at a time, and celebrate those small wins. You've got this, beautiful people!
