... Read moreShopping with your dog can be a wonderful way to bond and enjoy errands together, but knowing which stores are truly dog-friendly helps make the experience enjoyable for both you and your furry companion. Beyond the five stores mentioned—HomeSense/Winners, Staples, garden shops and nurseries, Michaels, and Indigo/Chapters—there are a few additional tips to ensure a smooth outing. First, always check each store’s policy about dogs, especially regarding leash requirements and areas where dogs are allowed. Many stores welcome dogs only in certain sections or require that they be carried in a kennel or stroller. Calling ahead can save you an unexpected inconvenience. When visiting garden shops or nurseries, your pup will likely enjoy the fresh air and open space, but be mindful of any plants that might be toxic to dogs. It’s a good idea to keep your dog close and supervised to avoid any trouble. For stores like Michaels or Staples, your dog’s behavior is key. Ensure they are calm and well-behaved, as crowded aisles and displays could cause overstimulation or accidents. Bringing your dog’s favorite toy or treats can help keep their attention and make the shopping trip more enjoyable. Don’t forget the importance of bathroom breaks and hydration. Carry water for your dog and plan for short walks or breaks along the way. This can help manage their energy and comfort. Finally, engaging in shopping adventures with your pup not only enriches their socialization skills but also strengthens your bond. Many dog owners find these outings a fun way to break the routine and add excitement to daily tasks. So next time you’re planning a shopping day, consider these dog-friendly stores and enjoy some quality time with your best friend!

I don’t get why people need to shop with their dogs , service dogs yes, but everyday stores why . Help me understand the need. I dont want to be walking around them, listening to them bark, smelling them while I’m shopping at Michael’s. It’s so distracting.
