Small acts like giving money directly can feel powerful, acknowledging and celebrating not just the history but the present struggles and successes of the Black community. Moreover, the hospitality industry often reflects broader societal issues, making Juneteenth a particularly poignant day to work as a server. Sharing tips and supporting Black servers can be a way for customers to show solidarity and appreciation beyond mere words. In conclusion, serving on Juneteenth is about much more than just doing a job—it’s about being part of a living history and community. It reminds me daily that acknowledgment and action, like supporting Black-owned businesses and giving back directly to friends, are crucial steps toward progress and healing.
