3 questions I ask myself before I style a surface🌸
Decorating used to be very overwhelming for me 😅 I’d overthink EVERYTHING and end up with a space that didn’t really feel like me and just felt cluttered. Once I started asking myself these 3 questions I started creating spaces that I loved and felt peaceful instead of just busy.
1. Does this need to be here?
In my kitchen, I use a basket tray to store our fresh eggs and always have a vase of fresh flowers. It’s functional and pretty, but everything in the tray earns its spot. No random clutter!
2. Does it make me feel good?
When styling spaces like my built in shelves or my coffee table, I prioritize pieces I genuinely love that spark joy. Bigger, intentional items over smaller things that just collect dust.
3. Does it say something about me?
In my son’s room, we use his favorite stuffed animals and books as part of the decor. It adds pops of color and keeps his favorites within easy access. I definitely prefer it over random decor because it shows his personality!
I’ve learned that less is more. I’d rather have one meaningful piece than five random things I picked up just to fill space. This mindset shift has helped my home feel lighter AND helped my mental health.
