Children are not resilient

By age 7, a child’s subconscious identity is nearly set, absorbing everything like a sponge—especially the words and emotions they receive. By age 13, their core self-beliefs are already established. At that point, they no longer need to be told they’re shy or incapable. Their own inner voice has taken over, repeating those messages as if they are absolute truth.

And this is why childhood wounds don’t just fade away—they shape how we experience adulthood. They were never just “phases.” They were programming.

But here’s the most powerful part: You are not stuck with those beliefs.

Healing starts when we recognize that the stories we tell ourselves today—the fear of speaking up, the hesitation to take action, the struggle with self-worth—are not facts. They are outdated programs running in our subconscious mind.

It’s not about blaming parents, teachers, or past experiences. It’s about understanding that if you struggle with confidence, self-doubt, or fear of failure, it’s not because something is wrong with you. It’s simply time to reprogram your mind.

Because just as beliefs were instilled in you, they can be rewritten. #parentingtips #motherhood #fatherhood #neuroscience #mentalhealthadvocate

... Read moreChildhood is a critical period where foundational beliefs and subconscious programming occur. By the age of 7, children absorb emotions and words, shaping their self-perception, which can lead to issues in adulthood. These early formative experiences are not merely phases; they leave enduring marks that influence how we navigate the world later on. Understanding this concept is key in mental health and parenting discussions. Recognizing that these beliefs can be altered is empowering. When we identify outdated beliefs like self-doubt or fear of failure, we can take steps towards healing. Techniques such as cognitive restructuring and mindfulness can aid in changing negative thought patterns and fostering resilience. Engaging with resources on neuroscience and mental health can further help parents and educators support children’s emotional development. Ultimately, acknowledging the impact of childhood experiences opens the door to growth and empowerment for both children and adults.
