Am I just weird or do I have any moms who understand what I’m saying? 🤔 #neurodivergent #pregnancy #twinpregnancy #saditynation
Pregnancy can be a uniquely complex experience for neurodivergent individuals, especially when expecting twins. From my own journey, I've noticed that feeling your baby move is not just a physical sensation but also an emotional milestone that can be overwhelming yet grounding. Managing sensory sensitivities while interpreting these new physical signals requires extra patience and self-awareness. Connecting with other moms who share this neurodivergent perspective can be incredibly validating. Many of us find traditional pregnancy advice isn't always tailored to our needs, so creating a community where we share how we cope, the adaptations we make, and how we navigate the fluctuating emotions is essential. For instance, some strategies that helped me include mindful breathing during overwhelming moments and using weighted blankets to ease anxiety related to sensory overload. Twin pregnancy adds another layer to this experience, with more intense physical changes and double the baby movements to track. This can sometimes feel chaotic but also joyful as each movement serves as a reassurance of your babies’ growth. Embracing these sensations while honoring your neurodivergent brain's needs has made my pregnancy feel more manageable. If you’re a neurodivergent mom-to-be, know that your feelings and experiences are valid. Seeking support, whether through forums, support groups, or trusted healthcare providers familiar with neurodivergence, can make a significant difference. Remember, every pregnancy journey is unique—there’s no “right” way to feel or cope. Sharing stories and strategies helps us all feel less alone and better equipped to welcome our little ones.
