Equally important is calculating your Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). This includes disposable items, skincare, and makeup products used per appointment. Knowing your exact COGS lets you set prices that cover these expenses plus a profit margin. Understanding your Operating Expenses (OPEX) is another pillar. From workspace rent to permits and signage, these fixed costs need to be spread across all jobs and factored into pricing to prevent losses. Makeup artists should avoid benchmarking prices against competitors blindly.
