Intentional NOT Reckless 🫶
After sharing that I quit my doctor, I received a lot of comments and messages.
Some people assumed I was walking away from healthcare.
I’m not.
I’m walking toward a healthcare team that aligns with my goals.
There’s a big difference.
I didn’t stop taking my health seriously—I started taking it more seriously.
Today, my care includes:
• A clinical pharmacist
• Weekly acupuncture
• Strength training
• Daily walking
• Sauna therapy
• Prioritizing sleep
• Nutrition focused on reducing inflammation
• Continuing my search for a physician who looks at the whole person
I’m not anti-medicine.
I’m pro-informed decisions.
If medication becomes the right choice for me, I’ll have that conversation. But I also believe nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep, and other lifestyle factors deserve a seat at the table.
Living with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis has taught me that healing isn’t about finding one magic answer.
It’s about building a team, asking questions, and making thoughtful decisions that fit your body.
For me, this journey isn’t reckless.
It’s intentional.
I’d rather spend my energy working with my body than feeling like I’m simply reacting to symptoms.
If you’ve ever felt unheard or dismissed, know that advocating for yourself is part of your healthcare—not a replacement for it.
This is my personal experience and not medical advice. Everyone’s health journey is different, and decisions about treatment should be made with a qualified healthcare professional.

Living with autoimmune conditions like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis often means navigating a complex healthcare landscape. From my own experience, I’ve found that integrating conventional medical care with holistic and lifestyle approaches creates a more balanced path to wellness. When I decided to step away from a traditional doctor who didn’t meet my needs, it wasn’t about rejecting healthcare—it was about finding care that truly aligned with my values and goals. This intentional choice has allowed me to build a diverse team that includes a clinical pharmacist and embraces practices like acupuncture, strength training, and sauna therapy. One key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of informed decision-making. Being proactive about my health means I don’t just react to symptoms; I actively manage inflammation through nutrition rich in anti-inflammatory foods, prioritize sleep quality, and maintain regular physical activity. These efforts empower me to take control rather than feel overwhelmed. Self-advocacy plays a critical role. If you’ve ever felt dismissed by healthcare providers, know you’re not alone. Advocating for yourself doesn’t replace medical treatment—it complements it by ensuring your voice is heard and your unique needs are addressed. While my journey reflects my personal perspective, I encourage others to seek healthcare professionals who look at the whole person and support a multifaceted approach to chronic illness. Healing is rarely about one magic solution—it’s about building a network of support tailored to you. Ultimately, intentional and thoughtful healthcare choices can transform how we live with autoimmune diseases. It’s about respecting your body’s signals, embracing both modern medicine and holistic therapies, and fostering resilience through consistent, meaningful actions.
