The Achievement Gap
...is a cute politically correct term for the separation our children feel in classrooms and assessments built for, well, not our children.
It isn't popular, and sometimes (even I'll admit) it isn't fun, being the enforcer of at-home study time. But my proof is in my 4th grader. With reading comprehension above grade level, I am sweating less about his future educational prospects, though we've got a long road to travel.
The tradeoff to being their best friend is being one of their best teachers. That's enough for me ❤️
