Replying to @blueeagle64 Ever wonder why your “UV flashlight” isn’t making your Yooperlites glow? 🤔🪨💡

Let’s talk UV light spectrum and what actually works when hunting these glowing rocks.

🔦 Not all UV flashlights are created equal:

• 254 nm = shortwave (great for sterilization, NOT for Yooperlites)

• 310 nm = midwave (some minerals, not ideal here)

• ✅ 365 nm = longwave UV — this is the one you need for that vibrant orange sodalite glow

• 395+ nm = mostly purple visible light, and barely makes Yooperlites pop

👉 Flashlights that work: look for 365 nm with a ZWB2 filter for best glow and eye safety

Bonus points if it’s labeled longwave UVA 💪

🧭 If you’re heading out to the shores of Lake Superior or the Great Lakes, don’t forget your real UV gear!
