5) read my Bible
6) watch a sermon from a Bible believing church
7) spend time with my brother
8) go on a sunset prayer walk
9) prayer over my entire house + my family
I do all these things because they bring me closer to God. I love doing 2hr prayer sessions and just every corner of my home as I pray over it. Working out is another thing I love doing, it makes me feel so restored. Reading biblical books is also a favorite pastime of mine. I post verses or words of wisdom on my prayer mirror so that I can rehearse them every morning while get ready. I also spend time with my brother, watch sermons, and read my Bible.
I'm in a season where my church is changing, and some of the things they are doing aren't really biblical, and it's less about Jesus now. So I've been praying for God to show me the next place or guide me on how I can operate and honor Him if He wants me to stay. That's why I'm not going to my specific church at the moment. I'm not against the church; I love it, but right now, it's not providing what I need to grow spiritually. 😊

... Read moreIt's completely understandable to find yourself in a season where regular church attendance isn't fitting your spiritual needs, or perhaps isn't even possible. I've been there, and it's a journey many of us navigate. What I've learned is that our spiritual connection to God isn't confined to four walls; it’s a living, breathing relationship that can thrive anywhere, especially in the quiet corners of our own homes.
When I'm looking to deepen my faith without a traditional service, my personal prayer life becomes paramount. It's not just about quick requests; it's about setting aside dedicated time for true communion. Sometimes, that looks like an extended "long prayer session" in my quiet space, perhaps lit by a "cozy candle" to create an atmosphere of reverence, just as Matthew 6:6 reminds us to pray in secret. I find that these focused times allow me to pour out my heart and truly listen for God's voice. I also love the idea of creating a "prayer mirror" – writing down verses or affirmations, perhaps like "2 Timothy 3:16" which speaks to the power of scripture, to anchor my thoughts daily. It's a wonderful way to rehearse truth and start each day grounded.
Beyond prayer, engaging with God's Word is non-negotiable. "Reading biblical books" isn't just about passively consuming text; it's about active study and reflection. I often pick a book of the Bible and delve into it, using commentaries or study guides to grasp deeper meanings. The goal is to let scripture transform my mind, as Philippians 3:17 encourages us to imitate good examples. If a traditional church isn't an option, there are so many incredible online resources, sermons, and Bible studies from "Bible believing church" ministries that can provide rich teaching and fellowship virtually.
Don't underestimate the power of movement and nature for spiritual refreshment. Taking a "sunset prayer walk" isn't just exercise; it's a chance to connect with God through His creation, offering praise and reflecting in the beauty around us. Even just "moving my body" with intention, perhaps on a yoga mat, can be an act of worship, honoring the temple God has given us, much like 1 Corinthians 9:27 speaks of disciplining the body for a greater purpose. It's about recognizing God's presence in every aspect of life.
Finally, remember that community, even if small, is vital. While I cherish spending time with my brother, you might find solace in a trusted friend or a small group. Sharing your faith journey, discussing scripture, and praying together can provide immense encouragement. True spirituality is about cultivating a personal relationship with God that permeates every part of your life, making your home a sanctuary and every moment an opportunity to draw closer to Him. This path is deeply personal, but incredibly rewarding.
I really love this ❤️ I don’t go to church either mostly because of transportation issues. And in a new area so I don’t have the community yet to ask for rides 😅
