Are you in love with God or are you afraid of him?

Reflecting on my own faith journey, I’ve noticed how shifting from fear to love in my relationship with God completely changed how I experience spirituality. Fear often made me feel like I had to earn God’s favor, constantly questioning, "Am I doing enough?" or "What if I disappoint Him?" This created a heavy burden, where I felt pressured to perform and walk on eggshells, fearing that any mistake might push God away. However, embracing a love-based understanding helped me realize that God’s love is not conditional on my performance. Recognizing "I am already loved" and "He’s not going anywhere" brought immense relief and freedom. Instead of obeying out of anxiety, I began to obey out of gratitude and trust. When I faltered, instead of pulling away, I found myself drawing closer to God, knowing His grace covers my imperfections. This shift also impacted my mental health positively. Feeling secure in God’s love reduced anxiety and fear-driven behaviors. It encouraged authentic relationship and inner healing rather than striving to meet unachievable standards.
