Army counter to Khmer fake news
The Army countered "fake news from the Cambodian way" that claimed Thailand prepared to attack Cambodia on the night of the 13th and morning of the 14th, with civilians evacuated and already ordered the closure of schools in the Surin area.
On Aug 13, 2025, at 20: 40, Colonel Ricjao Suksuvan, deputy spokesman for the Army, issued a statement saying that according to Fresh News in Cambodia, it published the headline "Most Urgent: The Thai army is preparing to relaunch the attack against Cambodia, possibly on the night of August 13 and the morning of August 14!" claiming that the Thai side has ordered the closure of the school, evacuating people in Ban Chant, Chant District, Kab Chong District, Surin Province, and preparing to attack Cambodia.
The Army inspected, confirming that no schools had been evacuated or closed in the checkpoint area. The checkpoint schools were still open as usual, and some schools in the checkpoint area simply postponed the on-site until normal teaching arrangements were made.
The allegations were false information; the Army insisted on strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement and the GBC meeting, and asked the public to obtain information from reliable sources, to prevent infatuation with fake news that misrepresented the facts.
