Gen. Nakcommercial, the deputy defense minister, in place of the defense minister, revealed that Thailand prepared to send video clips found on Cambodian soldiers' mobile phones, which recorded images of PMN-2 landmines, to international organizations to confirm the facts and implement the international legal framework.
The clip will be forwarded to the Ottawa Convention Committee, which is headquartered in Geneva and has been closely monitored by Permanent Representatives from Thailand. Thailand is also preparing to invite the President of the State Party of Ottawa, now Japan, to the review area before the General Conference later this year.
According to General Nathorn, despite the Thai government's sincere ceasefire, some of the Cambodian forces continue to act provocatively and violate international law, reiterating that Thailand will not respond with false information and will use facts as a means of action.
Thailand is also preparing to bring the issue of landmines into the next session of the General Border Committee (GBC), hoping that the information and environment in the area will pressure Cambodia to take responsibility for the action.
