The Foreign Travel Trends of Chinese Tourists in the Overview
1. Outbound tourism during China Day 2025 has a good growth trend, with Guangzhou Tour stating that Outbound tourism, especially popular long-distance travel or "visa-free friendly travel destinations," found that
Popular destinations (Southeast Asia)
- Thailand is classified as "Safe Choice," visa-free and family favorite.
- Singapore and Malaysia have some tourist routes reduced by 6% compared to 2024.
- Laos. It mentions traveling on the "China-Laos Railway."
- Vietnam enters the best tourist season in October.
"Star" remote destinations
- Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (dark horse)
- South Africa (30% growth) on e-visa opening
- Qatar and the United Arab Emirates enter the tourist season in October.
- France, Switzerland, Spain popular group tour travel (110% growth)
Destinations with special mention
- Japan. Prices fell 15% on good exchange rates. Australia and New Zealand received high attention from family groups.
2.Chinese tourists have doubled the search for foreign travel, the Golden Week 2025 period has increased; and tourist attractions have become more diversified. According to a publication by the Daily Economic News "Airbnb China: National Day 2025 Outbound Tourism Trend Report" (September 10, 2025), it was found that
- Japan is still the most popular destination with the highest search peak of Chinese tourists, followed by Italy, France, Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, Indonesia, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom caught in TOP 10 tourist search destinations during National Day.
- South Korea allows three or more Chinese tourists traveling in groups through the South Korean government-designated tourist company to enter South Korea without a visa for a maximum period of 15 days starting September 29 - June 30, 2026. It is expected to attract more group tour tourists to South Korea during the National Day long weekend.

Forecast the number of Chinese tourists entering Thailand and travel revenue during the China National Day holiday 2025
- Chinese tourists will begin their journey from Friday, September 26; to Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
- The TAT estimates that there will be about 200,000 Chinese tourists, a decrease of 24 percent, and a tourism revenue of about 9,100 million baht, a decrease of about 17 percent compared to the 2024 period.
- The average cost is 6,600 baht per person per day, and most stay 6 - 8 nights / trip.
Although the overall number of tourists is shrinking from the 2024 period, daily arrivals to Thailand are beginning to improve, with the following factors:
1. Pre-Booking for Golden Week (October 1-8, 2025):
There is a 5 per cent increase trend compared to the same period 2024, with most Chinese tourists booking about 15-40 days in advance of their journey (Lead Time); traveling small groups of up to 9 people.
TOP The top five cities with the most flights to Thailand are
- Shanghai (20 per cent proportion)
- Guangzhou (18 per cent proportion)
- Chengdu (10 per cent proportion)
- Kunming (9 per cent proportion)
- Beijing (8.7 per cent proportion)
2nd Tier cities with more flights from the previous year include Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Xiamen and Chongqing.
New flights to Thailand: At least 30 flights per week on both commercial and charter flights from Kunming, Datyong, Xi'an, Chengdu, Xining, Enchi and other cities starting in mid-September.
