Healing Soursop Iced Tea 🍃 + A Passionfruit Twist!
If you’ve never tried soursop leaf tea, or iced tea, this is your sign!
In my culture, we call it guanábana, and it’s been passed down for generations as a healing remedy. I love making an iced version with green tea for added antioxidants, and recently… I’ve been adding a splash of passion fruit syrup for the perfect sweet and tangy twist 🍹✨
This tea isn’t just delicious, it’s powerful. Soursop is known for its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits, and the leaves are often used as a natural way to support stress relief, digestion, and even cancer prevention. (Trust me as a stage 4 cancer survivor 😉)
🍵 Recipe⬇️
⬇️Ingredients⬇️
4 green tea bags
A handful of dried soursop (guanábana) leaves
5–6 cups of water
1-2 tbs agave syrup
+ Splash of passion fruit syrup (or lychee, guava, etc.)
Optional: lemon slices, or mint
This is more than tea, it’s a ritual. It helps me reset my body, calm my mind, and feel more connected to my roots. You can totally play with flavor—try lychee syrup for a floral vibe or guava for a tropical hit. 😋

Beyond the anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits I mentioned, I’ve also found that incorporating soursop leaves into my routine helps with cognitive clarity. While it’s not a magic bullet, many people, myself included, feel a subtle boost in focus and memory when regularly enjoying this tea. It's like my mind gets a refreshing reset, complementing the stress relief I already experience.
Speaking of variations, if you're feeling adventurous and want to explore more flavors, you absolutely must try a Soursop Hibiscus Iced Tea! While my recipe uses passion fruit for that tangy kick, adding a few dried hibiscus flowers during the brewing process can give your tea a beautiful crimson color and a wonderfully tart, floral note. It’s another powerhouse ingredient known for its antioxidants and can make your healing brew even more vibrant. Just steep them along with the soursop leaves and green tea bags.
For those looking to maximize the 'cancer prevention' aspect, focusing on high-quality, organic soursop leaves is key. I always make sure my leaves are dried naturally to retain their potency. Some folks also swear by adding a slice of fresh ginger or a pinch of turmeric for an extra anti-inflammatory boost, effectively creating a 'soursop supreme cancer tonic' right in your own kitchen. These simple additions can really amplify the natural goodness of the soursop.
I also wanted to touch on its potential for women's health. I've heard from many in my community about how soursop tea has been beneficial for managing symptoms related to conditions like fibroids. Although more research is always helpful, the anti-inflammatory properties of soursop are often cited as a reason for its traditional use in supporting reproductive health. It's another reason why this 'medicinal tea' has been a generational remedy in my culture.
Preparing the soursop leaves themselves is super simple. If you're using fresh leaves, just give them a good wash and tear them into smaller pieces before steeping. For dried leaves, like those shown in my recipe ingredients (green tea, agave, dried soursop leaves), they are ready to go. The key is a good, slow simmer to really extract all those beneficial compounds, including a good dose of vitamin C which is fantastic for overall wellness and skin health.
This soursop leaf recipe is incredibly versatile. Don't be afraid to experiment with different sweeteners or fruity additions. Whether it's lychee, guava, or even just a squeeze of fresh lemon, tailoring it to your taste makes it a ritual you'll genuinely look forward to. Remember, wellness should always taste this good, and finding what works for your body is the best journey.
