Self-Respect Week 🤍
For so long, I was the person who showed up for everyone else… but I had to learn how to show up for myself too.
Self-respect isn’t just about how others treat you — it’s about the promises you make to yourself and choosing to honor them. It’s giving yourself grace when things don’t go perfectly, getting back up when you fall, and remembering that you are worthy of the same love, patience, and compassion you give to everyone else.
I’m still learning this. I’m still growing. This past year has been a journey of rebuilding, refocusing, and reminding myself that I matter too.
So today’s reminder: take care of yourself, speak kindly to yourself, and don’t abandon yourself trying to be everything for everyone else.
You deserve the love you keep giving away. 🤍

Self-respect is often the most challenging form of love to master, as reflected in the phrase from the image, "Self respect/self love: is the hardest for me." I can personally relate to this struggle. For many years, I found myself putting others' needs far ahead of my own, believing that my value came from how much I could do for those around me. However, this approach left me feeling drained and disconnected from the person I truly wanted to be. The turning point came when I realized that self-respect is a continuous practice rather than a one-time achievement. It involves setting healthy boundaries, speaking kindly to myself even when I make mistakes, and taking deliberate steps to nurture my well-being. This self-compassion allows me to bounce back from setbacks with resilience and reminds me that I deserve the same kindness I extend to others. Another important aspect is learning to accept imperfection. Life doesn't always go as planned, and treating oneself with grace in those moments is vital. Rebuilding self-respect means acknowledging our humanity and giving ourselves permission to grow at our own pace. Practically, this could mean carving out time each day for activities that recharge you, such as journaling your feelings, engaging in intentional living practices, or simply pausing to breathe deeply. Surrounding yourself with supportive people who respect your boundaries also reinforces your commitment to yourself. Ultimately, self-respect leads to a healthier relationship with yourself and others. It empowers you to show up authentically, reduces burnout, and fosters a sense of inner peace. If you’re on a similar journey, remember that growth is a process, and every small act of kindness toward yourself counts. You deserve the love you so freely give to the world—never forget that.
