First Time Friday ✨
I’m excited to to discover some new recipes! 🥘 During the week I either meal prep or air fry some chicken tenders like a toddler so it’s the same thing over and over! 😅
I plan to make actual meals as well as bake but this gives me something to look forward to at the end of the week! 💡✨
Leave your favorite recipes or anything you’ve wanted to try out so I can make & share them here every Friday! 🤎🤎

Oh my goodness, you guys! That oatmeal cookie saga from last week? Let's just say it was... an experience. 😅 I genuinely thought I had all the ingredients and the know-how, but sometimes baking just decides to humble you. My 'oatmeal cookies' ended up looking decent, but as the OCR perfectly captured, they were more like 'dense cardboard'! Seriously, they almost went straight into the recycling bin. It really goes to show that even with the best intentions, a recipe can sometimes go completely sideways. But that's okay, right? Part of this 'First Time Friday' journey is about embracing the experiments, even the ones that don't quite make it. It's about learning what not to do, or what adjustments could be made next time. For instance, next time I tackle oatmeal cookies – and there will be a next time – I'll be paying extra attention to butter temperature, flour type, and maybe even a secret ingredient to keep them from becoming so... structurally sound. Who knew cookies could be so challenging? On a much brighter note, that cream cheese frosting? Absolute magic! ✨ It truly saved the day and proved that a simple, well-executed recipe can turn any baking mishap into a delicious recovery. Seriously, if you ever have a bake that doesn't quite hit the mark, a good homemade frosting or glaze can be your best friend. My recipe for cream cheese frosting is so quick and easy – just four ingredients: cream cheese, confectioners sugar, milk, and vanilla bean paste. It's versatile enough for cakes, cupcakes, or even just a spoonful straight from the bowl (don't tell anyone!). It's one of those 'thread' recipes that links so many desserts together. This whole 'First Time Friday' adventure is becoming my favorite weekly ritual. It's not just about finding new recipes; it's about building a collection, a 'thread' of culinary experiences and shared tips. I'm so excited to see what new dishes and baking triumphs (and maybe a few more 'cardboard' moments!) we can discover together. Your suggestions from last week were amazing, and I'm already eyeing a few for next Friday. For anyone just starting their own cooking or baking 'threads,' my biggest tip is to not be afraid to fail. Every chef, every baker, has had their kitchen disasters. The key is to learn from them, laugh them off, and keep trying. Also, invest in a good whisk and a reliable set of measuring cups – they make a world of difference! What are your go-to comfort recipes that always turn out perfectly, even when everything else goes wrong? And seriously, if you have a foolproof oatmeal cookie recipe, please send it my way! I'm determined to conquer them. Let's keep these recipe threads going!

My favorite oatmeal cookies are Fran's coconut oatmeal cookies!
