Using sulfate-free shampoos is vital, as sulfates often cause scalp irritation and damage hair's natural protective barrier. Herbal ingredients like aloe vera and tea tree oil soothe the scalp and help with cleansing without harsh chemicals. In addition to cleansing, incorporating an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse (usually diluted as 1 tablespoon ACV to 1 cup water) can restore scalp pH and remove product buildup. When shampooing, always use your fingertips rather than fingernails to gently massage the scalp. This stimulation promotes circulation and healthy hair follicles.
