Sometimes getting to work early is therapy. 😂
I got to work, checked my emails, made my coffee, stepped outside with a cigarette, had my little prayer, and got settled before the madness started. That's exactly why I come in early. Before the meetings, before the phones, before folks start "circling back"...I circle back to God. 🙏🏽
Then one of my old employees stopped by. She works for the competition now, but loyalty and friendship don't expire just because somebody changes jobs. Ironically, she found me because of my posts. Sometimes I swear I'm just typing in an online journal and y'all happen to read it. 🤦🏾♂️😂
Of course...she asked for relationship advice. 😐
I always give a disclaimer:
1. Tell me EVERYTHING.
2. I can only give my opinion.
3. My opinion is based on reality, not feelings...so it might sting.
A: You're a Single black mother living in Metro Atlanta.
B: Your daughter is a energetic 4yr old. She's not bad, just a child being a child.
C: You live in a 2 Bdrm apartment.
D: You make "Okay" money
E: You're 38yrs old
After hearing the story, I asked to see the phone. She actually handed it over.
Whew...
Voicemails ignored.
Texts answered days later.
Plans canceled.
No appreciation after dates.
Meanwhile she admitted she was entertaining other dudes while saying she was "in love" with this man. She had analyzed him with ChatGPT, consulted friends, talked to church folks, overthought every conversation...except actually communicating with HIM.
I just looked at her and said, "Sis...he ain't disappearing. He's reevaluating."
You can't keep somebody on layaway while you shop the whole mall. 😂 You treated him like an Amazon Wishlist item—"I'll come back later"—and now somebody else might be clicking "Buy Now."
The Bible says, "Let your yes be yes and your no be no." (Matthew 5:37). Healthy relationships need honesty, consistency, and clear communication—not mixed signals and endless evaluation.
I told her, "Tell that man how you really feel. Stop making him guess."
Fellas, don't volunteer for the friend zone hoping they'll be promoted one day.
Every good man eventually gets tired of chasing someone who's always running in the opposite direction.
Sometimes the blessing God sends doesn't leave because it stopped caring...it leaves because it got tired of waiting.
If it has to start as Friends w/Benefits...so what. Work on it becoming more and a true Relationship.
