Insect repellent recs？

I know the feeling – you desperately want to embrace the great outdoors, pitch your tent under the stars, and enjoy the tranquility of nature, but the thought of relentless insects makes you reconsider. "I hate insects but desperately want to go camping" perfectly sums up my struggle for years! I used to dread camping trips because no matter how much repellent spray I used, some pesky bugs always found their way in. Well, I've got some game-changing tips that go beyond just closing your tent zipper: embracing the power of outdoor insect repellent plants! When I first started looking for more natural, heavy-duty ways to keep bugs away, I stumbled upon the idea of using plants. It sounded almost too good to be true, but after some experimentation, I'm a total convert. Not only do these plants act as a natural barrier, but many of them also add a lovely aroma to your campsite, which is a huge bonus compared to chemical sprays. I often crush its leaves and rub them on my arms and legs, or even tuck a few sprigs into my hat or around my sleeping bag for added protection. Catnip: This one might surprise you, but studies have shown catnip to be even more effective than DEET at repelling mosquitoes! While I don't usually bring a whole plant, sometimes I'll find dried catnip sachets or essential oil to place discreetly around my camp. Just be warned, it might attract feline friends if there are any around! Basil: Beyond its culinary uses, basil is an excellent fly and mosquito repellent. I bring a small pot of basil if I'm car camping, or just some fresh sprigs to place on my picnic table. The strong aroma really seems to keep those buzzing nuisances away from my food. My strategy usually involves a combination: placing potted plants or fresh cuttings around the tent perimeter, rubbing crushed leaves on my skin, and sometimes even burning dried herbs like rosemary or sage (safely, of course!) in a fire pit to create a smoky barrier. These natural, heavy-duty methods have significantly reduced my contact with insects, allowing me to finally relax and truly enjoy my camping adventures without constant swatting.
