There's truly nothing like seeing my little one discover the joys of splashing around in the pool.
Each giggle, each splash. It’s pure sunshine to my heart. Watching him embrace the warm days and cool waters reminds me just how magical these simple moments are.
Summer is here, and it's all about making memories under the sun.
From tiny wet footprints to endless water games, these are the days we’ll look back on with the biggest smiles.
I love being a mom and sharing this sun-soaked season with my favorite little water enthusiast! 🏊♂️💦
... Read moreBeyond just our trusty yellow duck-shaped inflatable pool, which my little one (with his adorable curly hair!) absolutely adores, summer is packed with so many exciting possibilities for kids! I’ve been trying to mix things up to keep the magic alive all season long, and I wanted to share some of our go-to activities on those super sunny days, or even when we need a break from the water.
One of our absolute favorites, besides just free splashing, is setting up a DIY 'water play station.' You don't need much – just a few buckets, sponges, and maybe even that beloved red toy we have, and let them experiment with pouring, squeezing, and floating. It's incredible how long a simple setup can entertain them, and it’s a fantastic way to develop motor skills without them even realizing it! We also love to get out the water table for some sensory fun, adding things like plastic animals or measuring cups. It’s a guaranteed giggle-fest every time.
When we're not getting soaked, we turn to nature for some outdoor adventures. A simple scavenger hunt in the backyard or a local park can be a huge hit. I make a little list of things to find – a smooth rock, a feather, a specific leaf shape – and they get so excited. Picnics are another low-effort, high-reward activity. Just pack some sandwiches and fruit, throw a blanket down in the yard, and it feels like a grand adventure. And who can forget bubbles? A giant bubble wand can provide endless entertainment, chasing and popping them creates so much joy!
For those scorching hot afternoons or unexpected rainy days, I like to have a few indoor tricks up my sleeve. Building a blanket fort is a classic for a reason – it sparks so much imagination, and we often read books or have a special snack inside. Craft time is another go-to; simple things like painting with watercolors, making playdough creations, or even just coloring can keep them happily occupied. I try to keep a 'boredom busting' box with various art supplies and small toys so they can pick their own adventure.
Ultimately, what I've learned is that it’s not about elaborate plans or expensive outings. It’s truly about these simple moments – watching them discover, create, and find joy in the everyday things. Whether it's the thrill of a sprinkler, the quiet focus of a craft project, or just running barefoot through the grass, these are the 'things to do in the summer for kids' that build the happiest memories. Every splash, every discovery, every shared laugh makes this 'HELLO SUMMER' truly special. I hope these ideas help you create some wonderful moments with your little ones too!
