As a trained doula (2017–2022, hospital & home births), I thought I knew everything going into my first pregnancy… but guess what? I got swept up in the endless “birth advice” from influencers and so-called experts online, even fellow doulas. 🫠

Yes, education is empowering, but you know what isn’t?

❌ Feeling ashamed for not having every option

Here’s the truth:

Not everyone has access to the same care. Not everyone can “just switch providers.” Not everyone has a birth center or midwife available. And no one should feel guilty or scared for making the best possible choice for their situation.

As a doula AND an expecting mom, I’ve stepped back from the noise. Birth work should be about supporting families, not fear-mongering or promising things that aren’t realistic for everyone.
