Big Chop ✂️
What a journey, almost 4 years now since I’ve had my locs. I am very excited about my new journey but also am a little sad because I truly “LOVE” them.
Over these years, my locs have got me through so many experiences which carried a whole lot of energy im ready to release. And because I love them so much I wanted to take them out my self (with so much love)🥹
I’ve learned that change is the only constant thing. It took me 3 solid months to sit and really think about it and when I was ready it got me excited.
Guess I’ll get use to it…change.
I have a thing for natural hair I’m still not sure what I’ll make of this one. But I’ll rock it anyways

Making the decision to do the Big Chop after years of maintaining locs is a significant and emotional milestone. Locs not only represent a hairstyle but also a journey filled with cultural significance, personal growth, and self-expression. For many, the transition from locs to natural hair can feel like shedding an old layer and stepping into a new identity. It’s natural to feel both excitement and sadness during this process. When you decide to cut off your locs yourself, doing it with love and care can be a healing experience, reinforcing your connection to your hair and your natural roots. The Big Chop often symbolizes freedom and a fresh start, connecting you to the versatility and beauty of natural hair textures. It allows for experimentation with different hairstyles like afros, twists, or waves, all celebrating your natural beauty. This journey also embraces the idea that change is a constant in life. Taking the time—in this case, three months—to reflect before making such a meaningful transformation helps to mentally prepare you for the emotional and physical changes. Many people find a deep appreciation for the natural hair movement, which encourages embracing hair in its most natural state and rejecting societal pressures about beauty standards. After cutting off locs, it can take some time to get used to the new texture and appearance, but with patience and self-love, it becomes empowering. Overall, the Big Chop is about more than just a haircut. It’s a statement of self-acceptance, growth, and confidence. Whether you are transitioning from locs or any other style, the journey is personal and unique, and rocking your natural hair is a celebration of who you are.
