Why I Love My Major at USC

Having started my senior year and my senior thesis, I’ve been reflecting on the educational and very fun time I’ve had as a Narrative Studies major here at USC. Here are some reasons why, and maybe they’ll influence you too 🙃

... Read moreChoosing a major is a pivotal decision in college that shapes not only your academic path but also your personal growth. For those considering or currently pursuing Narrative Studies at USC, this field offers a compelling blend of creativity, critical thinking, and storytelling expertise. Narrative Studies focuses on understanding and crafting stories across various mediums—whether written, spoken, visual, or digital. This major equips students with the skills to analyze narratives culturally and socially, while also honing their ability to communicate ideas effectively. Senior year brings exciting opportunities like thesis projects where you apply everything learned in innovative ways. Reflecting on this experience, many students find that the major encourages a unique blend of analytical rigor and creative freedom, making academic work both meaningful and enjoyable. USC's supportive environment, alongside engaged professors and diverse classmates, further enhances the learning experience. If you’re passionate about storytelling and eager to explore how narratives influence society, this major could be a perfect fit. It not only prepares you for careers in media, publishing, education, and communications but also helps develop your ability to think critically about the stories that shape our world. Considering these factors might inspire you to think differently about your own academic journey and what a Narrative Studies degree entails.

Why I picked my Major
I decided my second semester of senior year that I was going to go to college. I hated the idea of more school, but knew I wanted to do more with myself than just work in a factory. My advisor suggested Supply Chain Management because the student who had previously majored in it had great success.
