My pumping essential #3

Cheaper alternatives if you don’t want to spend:

🫒DIY spray using olive oil

🟢 Earth mama nipple balm

- Apply thin layer on flange/nipple before pumping

🟢 Lansinoh nipple BALM

- Apply thin layer on flange/nipple before pumping

(Important: BALM, not the nipple cream. The cream is thicker/stickier and can actually create more friction instead of helping.)

🥥 Coconut oil

- Rub fingers to melt & apply thin layer on flange/nipple

... Read moreFrom my personal experience as a pumping mom, finding effective yet affordable nipple care products is key to maintaining comfort throughout breastfeeding and pumping sessions. The DIY spray using olive oil is a simple solution I often recommend. Olive oil is a natural moisturizer that helps reduce friction on nipples, making pumping more comfortable and preventing soreness. I also found Earth Mama nipple balm to be a lifesaver during times of nipple sensitivity. It’s gentle, safe for breastfeeding, and easy to apply with a thin layer on the flange or nipple before pumping. Likewise, Lansinoh nipple balm is a popular choice among moms—but it’s important to use the balm, not the cream, since the cream’s thicker texture can increase friction rather than alleviate it. Another favorite is coconut oil, which melts easily between fingers and provides a smooth, natural barrier when applied sparingly. Its antimicrobial properties also help keep the nipple area healthy. It's crucial to avoid thick creams that can cause irritation or build-up on pumping equipment. Instead, opting for lighter balms or oils helps maintain hygiene and ensures your pumping routine remains smooth and pain-free. Incorporating these inexpensive yet effective options into your pumping essentials can significantly improve your breastfeeding journey without breaking the bank.

Pumping Mistake I Didn’t See It Coming
After being discharged from the hospital, I went straight into pumping. For all my babies, I chose to exclusively pump because I personally don’t like the latching feeling. PP Day 2 I pumped for 15 minutes… but nothing came out. I thought, “Okay, maybe my milk hasn’t come in yet,” so I didn
