I wish I knew this! 👀🍂🍁
I wish I knew this!
Today didn't go the way I expected. I was so excited to change out my summer wreath and welcome the start of fall. But while taking it down, I didn't see a bird's nest tucked behind it until it was too late.
My heart absolutely sank. It was never my intention to harm them, and I've felt awful ever since.
Sometimes life reminds us to slow down and look a little closer. I'll definitely be checking every wreath before changing it from now on.
As someone who loves seasonal decorating, I recently learned an important lesson the hard way that I wanted to share. While swapping out summer wreaths for fall ones, I didn't notice a bird's nest hidden behind the wreath. It was heartbreaking to realize after I had already taken it down, as I never intended to disturb any wildlife. This experience reminded me how often we overlook the small details in our homes and gardens, especially during busy seasonal changes. Birds, squirrels, and other creatures often choose our wreaths or plant pots as safe spots to build nests or store food, especially in spring and early fall. Now, before changing any wreath or outdoor decoration, I always take a closer look—and I recommend that you do the same. Gently lift or move decorations to check for any signs of nesting birds or insects. Early awareness helps us protect these little lives while still enjoying our seasonal updates. If you find a nest, try to leave it undisturbed until the young have matured and left. You can also consider placing birdhouses nearby to provide a safe alternative space for nesting in your yard. This small extra step not only saves animals but also deepens our connection to nature and the changing seasons. It’s a kindness that adds meaning to our home decor routines. So, next time you’re ready to usher in autumn with new wreaths full of fall leaves and pumpkins, remember to look closer. You might just save a little life and start a new tradition of mindful decorating.
