POV: WALMART EMPLOYEE

It's a lot of lifting, bending, and constantly being on the move, but there's a satisfaction in seeing a messy aisle become neat and tidy. One of the biggest parts of being Walmart staff is, of course, customer service. We get all sorts of questions, from “Where are the hair accessories?” to “Can you help me reach that top-shelf item?” I actually love these interactions. It feels good to point someone in the right direction or assist them in finding exactly what they need. Sometimes, it’s a quick chat, other times, it's a bit of detective work to locate a specific product among the thousands we carry. It's not just about transactions; it's about making someone's shopping experience a little easier. The backroom is another world entirely. This is where we handle the incoming inventory, sort through cardboard boxes, and manage all the packaging waste. It’s a constant flow of new products and materials that need to be processed efficiently. I'll often be using a gray rolling cart to move items around, making sure everything is in its designated spot before it hits the sales floor. It's surprising how much coordination goes into keeping a supercenter running smoothly. There are challenges, for sure. Sometimes shelves can look empty after a busy weekend, and restocking can feel like a race against time. Or you might spend ages organizing the makeup display, only for it to look completely different an hour later! But the camaraderie among the Walmart store employees is strong. We help each other out, share tips, and make the day go by with a few laughs. It really does feel like a team working towards a common goal.
