🔥 MY JOB GETS THE BEST OF ME. MY KIDS GET WHAT’S LEFT.

🌮 Taco Tuesday thought:

I’m mentally and physically drained. Burned out. Running on autopilot.

Every morning my youngest and I race to the daycare door. Then I come home and throw the football with my oldest until his bus comes.

Today, they got the little energy I had left…because I still had to save some for WORK.

That hit me.

It’s one reason I started looking for another stream of income. I’m tired of work getting the best of me while my family gets what’s left.

Postal and healthcare workers keep telling me the same thing.

Help me out—what other fields are dealing with this too? What’s burning people out where you work? 👇

... Read moreDealing with burnout while striving to be present for your family is a challenge many working parents face daily. From my own experience, I’ve noticed how easily work stress can spill over into personal life, leaving little energy for meaningful moments with my kids. For example, racing to daycare in the morning and squeezing in playtime before work often feels like running on empty. But this reality sparked my determination to seek alternative income streams that offer more flexibility and less stress. Many professionals in essential fields—including postal and healthcare workers—share this struggle of work overtaking their personal lives. This has opened up important conversations about sustainable work habits and the pursuit of side hustles or freelance opportunities tailored to individual skills and passions. Reflecting on this, I found that even small changes like dedicating focused time to hobbies or remote part-time projects can create a buffer against burnout. If you’re feeling worn out, it’s helpful to recognize that you’re not alone and that exploring income options beyond your primary job can empower you to regain control over your time and energy. Whether it’s through gig economy roles, consulting, or creative pursuits, these alternatives often provide more balance. Engaging with communities of working parents also offers shared strategies and emotional support, which can be a lifeline when juggling heavy workloads. Ultimately, prioritizing your mental and physical well-being is crucial—not just for you but for your family. It’s important to allow yourself grace, set boundaries, and explore flexible financial opportunities. This approach gradually shifts the mindset from feeling like your job is exhausting your spirit to creating a sustainable lifestyle where your family benefits from your presence, not just what’s leftover.
