light or dark themed bathroom? 🚽🫣

we’re going BOTH!!! initially we were going to go with light grey for both bathrooms but some things changed along the way hahaha

i preferred light beige/grey-ish tiles and decided to do it for the guest bathroom, as it sorts of blends it better with the rest of the house! T rly wanted wooden tiles and also fell in love with a dark grey tile he saw at Hafary - so our master bathroom will now be going for a darker vibe (not what i was expecting initially but let’s roll with it 😂) luckily, it turned out much better than expected and we’re rly loving how it’s looking now :’)) in fact, we have a side bet that we’re going to ask guests to vote for the nicer bathroom - loser will do chores for the first month HAHAHA

all the tiles we chose for our bathrooms were <$3.50psf and we got them from Hafary! can’t wait to see the final results after grouting and when the bathrooms are all cleaned up! what do you think? 💭

... Read moreWhen deciding on bathroom themes, I learned that having a clear visual separation between areas can really enhance the space's appeal. For instance, choosing darker tiles for the shower or master bath can create a sophisticated and cozy vibe, while lighter tones work well to open up smaller or guest bathrooms, helping them feel more spacious. One tip I found useful is considering wooden-look tiles, especially in darker shades like the ones from Hafary we chose. They add warmth and texture without overwhelming the space. Also, balancing tile colors between walls, floors, and shower areas can subtly distinguish sections without harsh contrasts. In our renovation, mixing light grey-ish beige tiles in the guest bathroom with darker wood-look tiles in the master was a fun way to try both styles. It's worth noting that tiles under $3.50 per square foot don't have to look budget; finding quality affordable options can help stick to renovation budgets without sacrificing style. Lastly, involving family or guests in rating the final results made the process more engaging and gave us fresh perspectives on what works best visually. This side bet—loser doing chores for a month—turned out to be a humorous motivator and added some fun to the renovation journey!
