⚠️A CAUTIONARY TALE ⚠️ I thought the ghost was a yokai for a minute when it tried to hunt me while I was using spirit box. Thankfully I stuck around and realized it was actually a Demon being a Demon and hunting at high sanity as they do. #phas #phasmaphobiagame #phasmo #phasmaphobiaclips #phasmophobia
Okay, so you read about my crazy hunt where I almost got fooled? It was a classic 'Phasmophobia' moment, truly! I was convinced I had a 'Yokai' on my hands at first. Why? Well, I was right by the ghost, making some noise with the spirit box, asking "ARE YOU FRIENDLY?" and "WHERE," and suddenly, BAM! Hunt. My sanity was around 77%, and I immediately thought, 'This has to be a Yokai!' because they're known for hunting more frequently when players are making noise or talking nearby, even at higher sanity levels than most ghosts. Their unique ability makes them target sound sources, and if you're close and chatting into the spirit box, it feels like a textbook Yokai hunt. But here's the kicker, folks, and this is where 'reduced evidence game settings' really challenge your ghost-hunting instincts. It wasn't a Yokai. It was a 'Demon'! And let me tell you, realizing that mid-hunt when you've already made an 'incorrectly assume things' leap is a heart-stopper. So, how do you truly tell the difference, especially when the game throws curveballs? Let's break it down, because I've learned a few things the hard way. A 'Yokai' is tricky because they do love to hunt when you're making noise or talking nearby. Their sanity threshold for initiating a hunt is also quite high if you're within a couple of meters of them. They're also unique in that they can only hear your spirit box responses if you’re very close – usually within 2 meters. So, if you're getting spirit box responses from across the room, it's definitely not a Yokai. This is a crucial piece of evidence to look for. Now, the 'Demon'. Oh, the Demon. This ghost type is arguably the most aggressive in the game. Their defining trait? They can hunt at any sanity level, making them incredibly dangerous. While my sanity was 77% (which is high for most ghosts to hunt), a Demon can absolutely initiate a hunt there. What really set off the alarm bells for me retrospectively was the sheer frequency of hunts and their aggressive behavior right from the start. They often have shorter hunt cooldowns too, meaning you're barely out of one hunt before another begins. If you're seeing hunts starting frequently and your sanity hasn't even dropped much, you should immediately suspect a Demon. In 'reduced evidence game settings,' where you might not have all three pieces of evidence, you have to rely heavily on these behavioral traits. Don't just jump to conclusions based on one event, like a high-sanity hunt. Observe everything! Was the ghost responding from afar to the spirit box? If so, not a Yokai. Was it hunting relentlessly even after you'd only been there a short while? Lean towards Demon. The OCR even mentioned "THE GHOST EVEN SHUSHED ME!" which, while spooky, isn't a unique identifier for either. It’s just generic ghost interaction. My biggest takeaway from that scare is to be 'thorough' (as the OCR wisely suggested). Don't let an initial assumption blind you. If you suspect a Yokai, try to bait it by talking nearby, but also check if the spirit box works from a distance. If you suspect a Demon, monitor hunt frequency and sanity drops meticulously. It's all about observation and not getting tunnel vision on one ghost type. This experience really hammered home that even seasoned players can get caught out by these subtle differences in Phasmophobia.
