Um Sir… do you think you could break into our van?
Tell me why my sister-in-law locked her keys AND phone in the car…
…at Dollar General…
…in the middle of nowhere…
Like ma’am?? FULL commitment to the chaos today 😭
So naturally, we did what any rational women would do—
we went INTO Dollar General and bought supplies to break INTO the car 🫠
✨ First attempt:
Wooden spatula + hanger = confidence level HIGH
Reality = absolutely not happening
✨ Second attempt:
Car antenna removed (because clearly we’re professionals now)
Still nothing. Just vibes.
At this point we’re sweating, laughing, and questioning every life choice that led us here 😂
AND THEN—
like a small-town angel sent straight from above—
a random man pulls up, takes one look at our situation, and I speak loudly across the parking lot “um do you know how to break into my van” “I can try…..do yall need help?”
Sir… YES. We clearly do.
He grabs a wire he had (because apparently he’s actually prepared for life),
works his magic…
⏳ ONE HOUR LATER…
BOOM. CAR OPEN.
We cheered like we just won the lottery 💀
Moral of the story:
Dollar General really does have everything…
except a locksmith 😂

Locking your keys and phone inside your car is one of those moments that can quickly turn an ordinary day into an unexpected adventure. I remember once being stuck in a similar situation in a small-town parking lot, and, like in this story, it was a total mix of panic and laughter. What I found interesting is how Dollar General, often known for its wide range of products, became the unlikely source of supplies for a DIY car entry attempt. While their aisles don't include locksmith tools, items like wooden spatulas and hangers might just become the impromptu tools of the day. In times like this, patience and a good sense of humor are truly lifesavers. The story also highlights the importance of community — a stranger equipped with the right tools and willingness to help can be a literal lifesaver. It reminded me that sometimes, the kindness of people around us brings solutions when all else fails. For anyone worried about being stranded, a practical tip is to always have a spare key hidden safely outside your vehicle or with a trusted friend. Also, keeping emergency numbers for local locksmiths or roadside assistance saved on your phone can help speed up these stressful moments. Lastly, this story perfectly captures how chaos can lead to memorable moments — complete with lots of sweating, laughter, and even a sense of victory once the door pops open. Sharing these experiences helps all of us know we aren’t alone in the unpredictable quirks of daily life, especially in the #momlife and #smalltownlife communities where every day is an adventure.
