Thinking about what type of position you need to be in for what pitch helps you build that mental image you need to help your mind and body get on the same page during a game! If you’re not thinking about what characteristics go into each pitch, you will find yourself halfway through the pitch getting in the wrong position! Try this to help build your confidence when it comes to switching pitches! #softballpitcher #pitchingdrills #PitchingTips

When you can visualize the stance and movement required for fastballs versus curveballs, your body naturally follows, leading to better control and consistency. For example, with the fastball, I focus on a more explosive stance and arm angle, whereas the curveball requires a subtle wrist turn and a different grip that's complemented by a unique arm position. Practicing these positions repeatedly, alternating among your repertoire of pitches, trains your muscle memory so that mid-game you don't hesitate or slip into the wrong posture. Don’t rush your pitching motions during practice; deliberate positioning helps you channel the necessary energy for each pitch and significantly reduces errors. Being able to “read” your own body positions also helps your coaches and teammates anticipate your pitch type, increasing team coordination. I recommend recording your pitching sessions and reviewing them to ensure that your posture distinctly signals your intended pitch—this aligns with the advice to let your pitch be identifiable through your position, as mentioned in pitching drills. Over time, this practice also builds your confidence in switching pitches seamlessly and enhances your overall game performance.
