Didn’t think of trying this until…

Yo-Chi opened its first international outlet back at home - 🌞 Singapore. If you haven’t heard, Yo-Chi, Australia’s self-serve frozen yoghurt and acai dessert chain can now be found at Orchard Central. I learnt from my friends that the outlet offers 10 different yoghurt flavours, which is more than what I got when I stepped into the Melbourne’s store.

I picked the Mango flavour for something more refreshing and also more complementary to the taste profiles of most of the toppings. The froyo was extremely creamy although I did find the mango flavour a little artificial. After getting the froyo from the self-serve machine (where I had difficulties creating that nice whirly shape), it was time to select the toppings. 😙 grapes, lychee, lychee popping pearls and mochi were the ones I selected and oh boy, did they taste fresh! There are Singapore-exclusive toppings such as coconut jelly and mango popping pearls, with the latter making me jealous of my friends back at home. There was also a drizzle bar for warm sauces, pretty much like Yole, but I usually skip those as I find them too heaty for my liking.

Prices go by weight of froyo and the toppings, and it’s A$3.80 and S$3.50 per 100g. With the exchange rate, it’s just about 30c cheaper every 100g. My small bowl cost me about A$14, definitely on the steep side, but for the quality of the froyo and its taste, I can do this treat perhaps once a month? And yes, the next round I visit the store, I might just forgo the fruits and just top it with the popping pearls and mochi, so that I can spend my bucks on more yoghurt instead 🙃

💭 Thoughts:

Price point is worth the taste, and I can see why it might be a hit in SG too.

🤔Would go again?

Perhaps a 🥰monthly🥰 treat

... Read moreIf you’re curious about making the most out of your Yo-Chi visit, here are a few tips based on my experience and what others have shared. First, while the price is calculated by weight—A$3.80 or SGD 3.50 per 100g—it’s easy to overdo it with toppings. To get better value, consider focusing more on the yogurt itself, especially if you enjoy creamy, flavorful bases. For example, opting for more yogurt and fewer fruits or warm sauces can help you savor more froyo without breaking the bank. Also, the store features some Singapore-exclusive toppings like coconut jelly and mango popping pearls. These add a unique local twist compared to the Australian outlets and are definitely worth trying for a fresh flavor burst. If you’re a fan of textures, mochi and popping pearls offer delightful contrasts that enhance the eating experience. Regarding the self-serve format, it might take a little practice to get that perfect swirly froyo shape you see in photos. Don’t be discouraged by initial attempts—it’s part of the fun! Additionally, if you're wondering about payment options, popular digital wallets like PayNow are commonly asked about but it's good to check with the outlet as payment methods can vary. For calorie-conscious visitors, online forums like Reddit discuss Yo-Chi calories, though exact numbers can depend on topping choices and portion size. To keep it lighter, choose mostly fresh fruit toppings and watch your portion weight. Lastly, many have found Yo-Chi to be a popular spot not just for desserts but also for casual meetups, thanks to the relaxed space at Orchard Central. It’s a sweet spot to try something different whether you’re a local or just visiting Singapore.
