I miss this monthly self-care most after moving

First things first!! Go check out nailsxbyj on Instagram and try to get yourself a manicure appointment! 🥰

I have been going to Jac to do my nails on a 6-7 weeks routine since 2019 and she can really (i am not even half exaggerating) bring any designs come to life and with her own touch of style. Having done my nails for 6 years with her now, non-artistic me sometimes go to her without any design inspirations, so I will just tell her “I want marble design. Colours and style you can decide” and she never fails to deliver 😍 or sometimes I will show her an inspo but tell her “Not so many designs please” and she would make adjustments to suit my personal taste perfectly.

💕☺️ Many inspo pictures I send her will use stickers for the more intricate designs, but Jac NEVER used stickers for me. Look at the flower she drew on the third pic and my other fav was a Koi fish she drew for CNY (no pic tho).

💕🥰 My bridal set was unforgettable (2nd pic)! The lace design was even semi 3D and the texture could be felt.

My nails grow rather slowly so 6-7 weeks cycle works out perfectly, but her schedule is so booked out that I am glad I am a regular who gets first dips two months prior ☺️. And the most amazing thing about her work is that I do not experience lifting or chipped nails even after 7 weeks.. mind you, I am not the most gentle out there.

It is also not just me who enjoys my nails, but while I was still teaching, my students would also look forward to the next set of designs and give me recommendations or sing praises about them. Of course, nicely done nails to me isn’t just about the art itself, but also the character of a person I am trying to present myself as to people I meet. Jac knows exactly that I am not into ‘loud’ elements, so the designs usually go with the ‘sophistication, and classy’ vibes. ✨

I am currently growing out my nails, and Jac helped me with a hard gel coat after removing my last design in end June. This prevents my softer nails to chip easily while I wait for my nails to grow out totally. Yes, inevitably, damage has been done to my nails over the years, but I would say it’s kept to its minimal as Jac doesn’t use the soak-off method for removal.

There’s definitely nail salons in Melbourne, but you know, after being with Jac for so many years, it’s just impossible for me to want to trust anyone else with my nails. From knowing my taste, to replicating design inspiration perfectly, to quality of manicure, do you think I can find a nail salon that meets these standards that nailsxbyj has set?

So, I will take this WHV Journey to let my nails rest and embrace nakedness ☺️

... Read moreIf you're someone like me who values a manicure that lasts and suits your personal style without the hassle of frequent touch-ups, consider establishing a regular schedule with a trusted nail artist. Jac's approach to manicures includes hand-drawn designs with no stickers, which adds a unique and lasting quality to the art. Moreover, after years of nail care, I’ve learned the importance of protecting my natural nails. Jac uses a hard gel coat that prevents chipping while my nails grow out, a technique that’s gentle and reduces damage over time. It's a good reminder that nail care isn’t only about aesthetics but maintaining nail health. For those with busy weekdays, a manicure routine every 6-7 weeks can be a manageable and rewarding form of self-care. You don’t need loud or over-the-top designs; communicating your preferences for sophistication or subtlety helps your nail artist deliver amazing results. Although there are many salons in various locations like Melbourne, building a relationship with a nail artist who understands your taste and nail health needs is invaluable. After switching cities or lifestyles, it’s natural to miss these routines, but embracing nail rest or minimalism can also be part of your nail journey. Lastly, when booking a manicure, especially if you have any involuntary movements or special needs, communicate openly with your nail technician. They can tailor their service to ensure comfort and excellent results. This personal care element elevates a simple manicure into a cherished monthly ritual.

Monthly expenses of a 30yo living in Singapore with adult money ✨
I've been recording my expenses since I started working and damn is lifestyle creep/inflation real. Back then when I started working, my monthly expenses were averaging no more than $2k. After 6 years, it has more than doubled. Is this monthly expenses normal for a 30yo in Singapore?
