Strawberries Picking @ Wanaka

🍓 Random #wanaka find!

We wanted to try fruit picking in NZ and stumbled upon Red Ridge Fruit Farm by the highway, surrounded by mountains ⛰️

Not even huge strawberry fans tbh — mostly here for the experience 😅

But the strawberries were actually really good: ripe, juicy, and generally sweet. Definitely eat a few while picking 😶

Only thing: there’s a 500g minimum pick per pax, which was quite a lot for us to eat with just a few remaining days in NZ 🥲

Not a fan of the picking experience? They do serve #strawberrysmoothie and ice creams too!

Still, a fun little stop amidst the #newzealandroadtrip

... Read moreIf you plan to visit Red Ridge Fruit Farm for strawberry picking, keep in mind their rules to ensure a smooth experience. Picking is only allowed in designated rows each day, so be sure to follow the farm's guidance and avoid stepping on plants or plastic mounds. You’re welcome to taste a few strawberries while picking, but remember it’s not meant to be a meal. There is a minimum pick amount of 500 grams per person, which can be quite a bit if you’re traveling light or have a limited stay. Planning ahead can help you make the most of it, possibly sharing the strawberries with travel companions or saving some for later. For those less keen on picking, Red Ridge also offers delicious strawberry smoothies and ice creams available at their shop—a perfect way to enjoy the fresh local flavors without the work. Located right by the highway and surrounded by New Zealand’s beautiful mountain landscapes, this spot is a hidden gem for travelers seeking a fun and authentic local experience. It’s an ideal family-friendly activity or a relaxing break during your New Zealand road trip.
