Gardening Update
My cucumbers and flowers are really coming along!
Spring is such an exciting time for gardeners, especially when you see your cucumbers and flowers beginning to thrive. From my experience, cucumbers are relatively easy to grow if you ensure they get plenty of sunlight and consistent watering. I started my cucumbers indoors before transplanting them to the garden once the threat of frost had passed. This gave them a strong start and helped prevent any setbacks during the early growth phase. Flowers, on the other hand, add a burst of color and life to any garden space. I like to select a mix of perennials and annuals to keep the blooms going throughout the season. A practical tip I’ve found useful is to deadhead spent flowers regularly; this promotes further blooming and keeps the plants looking vibrant. Joining communities like #blackgirlgardening has also been a great way to share knowledge and gain inspiration. Seeing others’ gardening success and learning about regional tips has helped me adjust my techniques to support healthier growth. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gardener, spring is the perfect season to renew your enthusiasm for gardening projects. Lastly, integrating natural pest control methods, such as companion planting and using neem oil sprays, has made a noticeable difference in keeping my garden healthy without relying on harsh chemicals. Embracing these sustainable practices not only benefits your plants but also the environment.
