Inside Out 2 Drawings ✏️🎨

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about my process for sketching these 'Inside Out 2' characters, since drawing is such a big part of my unwinding routine. It's truly amazing how therapeutic putting pencil to paper can be! After a busy morning, settling down with my sketchbook and bringing these emotions to life was the perfect way to relax. When I decided to draw Anxiety, I was really focused on capturing her dynamic energy. Her spiky hair and expressive wide eyes are her signature look, making her a blast to sketch. I spent a good amount of time on her striped shirt and the way her hands convey her restless nature – that iconic biting a finger pose really tells a story! It was a fun challenge to get her nervous yet determined vibe just right. For anyone looking to draw her, pay close attention to those sharp angles and how her body language contributes to her overall anxious personality. I found starting with light construction lines to block out her head and body shape, then refining the details like her distinct hairstyle and facial expressions, worked best. Using a softer pencil for initial outlines and then building up with darker lines for definition really helps bring out the details in her design. It’s all about layering to get that depth! Then came Sadness, who offers a completely different emotional landscape. Her gentle, round features and her iconic sweater and glasses really make her stand out. I focused on depicting her classic 'crying with an open mouth' expression, trying to convey a soft vulnerability. Even when she's lying on her stomach, as in one of my sketches, her posture speaks volumes about her mood. The key to drawing Sadness, I think, is to really lean into her softness and the way her expressions are subtle yet profound. Don't be afraid to exaggerate those downturned eyes or the slight slump in her shoulders to get her feeling across. I found that layering shades with my pencil helped to give her sweater that cozy, worn look, adding texture to her otherwise simple design. Capturing the roundness of her face and the way her glasses sit was also a delicate but rewarding process. These 'Inside Out 2' characters are fantastic subjects for anyone wanting to practice character drawing because their emotions are so vividly personified.
