私も3児の母として、きょうだい間の叱り方には本当に悩まされてきました。特に、上の子を他の兄弟の前で叱ってしまうことが多かったのですが、そのたびに子どもの悲しそうな顔を見ると胸が痛みました。この記事で紹介されている「叱る場所を選ぶ」ことの重要性は、まさに実感しています。例えばリビングのような開けた場所ではなく、個室や静かな場所に誘って小声で伝えると、子どもも防御的にならず素直に受け止めてくれました。さらに、「人格」ではなく「事実や行動」に焦点を当てて叱ることで、子どもを傷つけずに正しい行動へと導けることに気付けました。私が行った具体例としては、兄が妹のおもちゃを奪ったとき、「お兄ちゃんだから我慢して」と叱るのではなく「おもちゃを取るのはよくないよ。どうしたら仲良く遊べるかな？」と伝えるようにしています。この言い方を変えることで、子どもの表情も柔らかくなり、きょうだいゲンカも以前より落ち着きました。普段の忙しい育児の中で、つい感情的になってしまうこともありますが、この鉄則を覚えて実践することで、親子の信頼関係が深まるのを感じます。子育ては簡単ではありませんが、この方法で子どもの自尊心を守りながら育んでいけると、きっと家族みんなが笑顔で過ごせるはずです。ぜひ試してみてくださいね。
