Rating Mineral Sunscreens As An Oily Skin Girl 🌟✨

As someone with oily and sensitive/acne-prone skin, I love using a mineral sunscreen for a gentle alternative! Here are my opinions on some that I have tried:

Cell Fusion C Laser Sunscreen ⭐️ 7.5/10 ⭐️

• This is a great option for when I’m going in the water, but it is too harsh for everyday wear on my skin!

Anua Heartleaf Sunscreen ⭐️ 8/10 ⭐️

• This feels smooth on the skin, but I found it a bit irritating for my skin!

Mixsoon Centella Sun Cream ⭐️ 8.5/10 ⭐️

• This is a great option for the winter time as it is too greasy for oily skin in the summer

Innisfree Daily Sunscreen ⭐️ 9/10 ⭐️

• One of my favorites! This was my everyday sunscreen before finding my go-to …

Skin1004 Velvet Finish Sunscreen ⭐️ 9.5/10 ⭐️

• A recent find! Skin1004 makes such high quality sunscreens, and this one is so pretty as a light tinted moisturizer

Bliss Blockstar Sunscreen ⭐️ 8.5/10 ⭐️

• I used to wear this a lot during past summers when I would tan more, but it is too warm-toned for my shade recently. I do love how mattifying it is on my skin!

... Read moreYou might be wondering, 'Is there a truly waterproof mineral sunscreen that won't make my oily skin feel worse?' I totally get it! While no sunscreen is 100% waterproof, many are water-resistant for 40 or 80 minutes. The Cell Fusion C Laser Sunscreen I mentioned in my review is a great example for those days by the pool or ocean because it really holds up. When choosing a water-resistant option for oily skin, I always look for formulas that are less likely to run into my eyes and sting, and ideally, those that offer a bit of a mattifying finish even after getting wet. Look for terms like 'sport' or 'water-resistant' on the label. Reapplying after swimming or sweating is key, no matter how 'waterproof' it claims to be! Speaking of other popular options, I've seen a lot of buzz around products like Knours Koolsol Mineral Sunscreen. While I haven't personally gotten my hands on that one yet, based on what I look for in a good mineral sunscreen for oily skin – things like a lightweight texture, minimal white cast, and ingredients like zinc oxide for broad-spectrum protection – it seems to align with what many of us oily-skinned folks seek. When exploring new mineral sunscreens, especially those you hear good things about, always check if they're non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) and if they offer a truly 'velvet finish' or 'mattifying' effect, which is often crucial for managing excess oils throughout the day. Finding your holy grail mineral sunscreen when you have oily and sensitive skin can feel like a quest! Beyond specific brands, I've learned to focus on certain characteristics. First, the ingredients: broad-spectrum protection from zinc oxide and titanium dioxide is non-negotiable. For texture, I gravitate towards lightweight fluids or gel-creams that don't feel heavy or suffocating. The finish is also super important; I'm always chasing that 'velvet finish' or a truly 'mattifying' effect to minimize shine. An ideal product will minimize pores and help control sebum, just like the Skin1004 Velvet Finish Sunscreen I raved about, which gives a lovely light tinted coverage. I also look for formulas described as 'non-greasy' and 'non-comedogenic' – these are lifesavers for preventing breakouts. Sometimes, even the best mineral sunscreens can leave a slight white cast, especially on deeper skin tones, but many brands are improving this with tinted formulations or micronized minerals. If you experience pilling, try applying your skincare in thin layers and letting each product absorb fully before applying sunscreen. It makes a huge difference! Coming back to the Cell Fusion C Laser Sunscreen – while it's fantastic for water activities, I found it a bit too robust for my everyday needs. It's a prime example of how even a good sunscreen might not be a one-size-fits-all solution. For daily wear, especially if you're not going for a swim, I personally prefer something like the Innisfree Daily Sunscreen or the Skin1004 Velvet Finish, which feel lighter, less irritating, and still provide excellent protection without feeling too greasy for my oily skin. It's all about finding that balance between protection, comfort, and how it performs throughout your day.
